Are you ready to help us make the future?

We are currently looking for an Engineering Technician to work in a very hands on role in the engineering team out of our Redditch site.

The Redditch site specializes in the design, development, and manufacture of components for small-scale cooling infra-red devices used in guided weapons and thermal imaging systems, high pressure actuation systems, and satellite cryogenic systems. Most of our programmes are for space/military markets where reliability and sound manufacturing are key. The individual who fills this role will be responsible for slotting into our team and delivering sound hands-on expertise in a variety of situations.

Responsibilities:

·       Perform key engineering tests on behalf of the engineers with rigor and thorough documentation (activities can run from suggesting rig setups, performing and troubleshooting the setup, performing the test, documenting as needed, and cleaning/storage of equipment used).

·       Gain a good understanding of the manufacturing of our products such that you are able to assess/clean/fraze parts, build prototype units, suggest process improvements, assess and recommend updates to build documentation, and train production staff as needed.

·       Use that hands on assembly experience to provide input into new designs (build processes, tooling design, product design).

·       Troubleshooting various situations in conjunction with the rest of the team (could be rigs, product development and assembly methods, production issues, etc.).

·       Maintain any engineering test rigs as needed.

·       Willing to be involved in engineering and manufacturing problem solving as needed.

·       Maintain acceptable standards of professional conduct with respect to colleagues and customers.

·       Maintain acceptable standards and practice in respect of health and safety at work.

·       Set challenging personnel annual performance goals and monitor performance throughout the year.

Experience Required:

·       Higher National Diploma or equivalent in an engineering related subject would be advantageous

·       Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment, with the ability to be able to problem solve assembly issues

·       Proven ability to interact with and build good relationships with all members of the organization, from senior management to line level management to production staff (skilled and semi-skilled) to engineering staff.

·       Experience in all manner of welding (EB, TIG, Laser) and practical experience of what makes a “good” weld is highly advantageous but not essential.

·       Good oral and written communication skills.

·       Ability to formulate and execute personal performances and evaluation.
